STELION took part in FIDAE 2026 in Santiago, Chile, one of Latin America’s leading international aerospace, defence and security exhibitions.
Representing STELION at the event were Business Development Engineer Ines Perez and Project Engineer Álvaro López Olea, combining technical and commercial expertise to engage with industry professionals, defence organisations and potential partners from across the region.
Showcasing resilient navigation technologies
FIDAE 2026 provided an important opportunity to present SOLAR MEMS’ latest developments in optical sensing and resilient navigation technologies, including the STELION family of solutions.
As defence and aerospace platforms increasingly operate in environments where GNSS may be degraded, disrupted or unavailable, resilient navigation technologies are becoming an important part of modern navigation architectures.
STELION applies stellar navigation and optical sensing principles to provide navigation information without relying exclusively on conventional satellite-based positioning. The technology is being developed for demanding applications across autonomous platforms, UAVs, maritime systems and other defence environments.
Connecting with the Latin American aerospace and defence ecosystem
Beyond showcasing technology, FIDAE provided an opportunity to engage directly with organisations across the Latin American aerospace and defence sectors.
Throughout the event, the SOLAR MEMS team exchanged perspectives on regional requirements, explored potential applications for STELION and discussed opportunities for future collaboration.
These conversations are an important part of understanding the evolving navigation challenges faced by modern platforms and identifying where resilient optical navigation can provide additional capabilities.
FIDAE also highlighted the continued growth and technological development of the aerospace and defence ecosystem across Latin America, creating valuable opportunities for international collaboration and technology exchange.
Looking ahead
Participation in FIDAE 2026 represents another step in SOLAR MEMS’ international expansion and our commitment to engaging with customers and partners across global aerospace and defence markets.
We would like to thank everyone who took the time to meet with Ines and Álvaro during the event and share their requirements, challenges and ideas with our team.
The conversations started at FIDAE will continue as we explore new opportunities to bring STELION’s resilient optical navigation capabilities to demanding applications across the region.
From space heritage to next-generation defence navigation, SOLAR MEMS continues to develop optical sensing technologies for environments where reliable navigation matters most.
